A perfect storm is about to hit the gasoline market, making it possible that gas prices will jump by up to 20 cents per gallon over the next few days. With oil prices spiking and the onset of the peak driving season, drivers need to be prepared for some pain at the pump. Gasoline prices could be up to a nationwide average price of more than $3.70 per gallon, with some suggesting prices could reach an average of over $4 by the end of the summer.

Oil prices, which typically make up about two-thirds of the price of gas, have been on the rise since the unrest in Egypt started heating up. In addition, output in neighboring Libya has been reduced, putting further pressure on world oil prices. Meanwhile, here in the U.S. our benchmark crude oil, West Texas intermediate, has risen to the point where it's within a few dollars of the global benchmark.

Elise Amendola/AP NEW YORK -- Netflix has reached a deal with Comcast to ensure that its TV shows and movies are streamed smoothly to households, the first deal the online video streaming service has reached with an Internet service provider. The two companies said in a joint statement Sunday they're establishing a more direct connection to provide a better service to customers that will also allow for future growth in Netflix traffic. The companies say the arrangement is already giving customers a better experience. Netflix (NFLX) had 33 million U.S. streaming subscribers at the start of the year and accounts for about one third of all traffic at peak times on the Internet, according to research firm Sandvine. As the video steaming company has grown, Internet service providers like Comcast (CMCSA) (CMCSK) have pushed the company for more structured deals to enable its content to be transmitted smoothly and reduce the strain on their networks. While the companies didn't disclose the terms of the deal, Netflix investors will want to know how much this deal will affect the company's bottom line and whether the costs will be passed on customers. Netflix has been resisting paying fees to Internet companies and this deal could open the door to similar agreements with other providers. Netflix is already experimenting with different rate plans that charge slightly more for households that want to stream its shows and movies on four different screens simultaneously. The deal comes after months of collaboration with Comcast though Netflix will receive no preferential network treatment under the multiyear deal, the statement said. Comcast was ranked as the 14th fastest Internet service provider in January, according to a table on Netflix's website. By connecting directly to Comcast's network, Netflix should be able to boost the quality and speed of its video streaming as it adds more customers and prepares to start streaming its content in the ultra high defin

Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg via Getty Images They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So, Comcast (CMCSA), consider yourself flattered, because Time Warner Cable (TWC) is copying off your homework. A couple of weeks ago, we told you about Comcast's "Great New Secret Cable Plan" to try to halt the exodus of subscribers from its services. The Comcast plan allows subscribers to sign up for: A menu of 45 or so of the most-watched, most useful cable channels The premium pay-TV channel HBO -- plus included HBO GO service for mobile devices High-speed Internet access at speeds up to 25 Mbps A subscription to XFINITY Streampix, Comcast's service for streaming video of complete seasons of popular television shows from recent years past... ... all for the low, low price of just $40 or $50 a month (depending on location). The plan was "secret" because Comcast didn't make much of an effort -- or really effort -- to publicize it. There's hardly even a mention of the plan on the company's website. In other words, it seems like Comcast would prefer to keep the new plan hush-hush so you continue paying for one of their more expensive bundles. However, word of Comcast's under-the-radar new plan get out -- nearly 5,500 DailyFinance readers printed, emailed, commented on, Tweeted, or Facebooked our story on Comcast's "Internet Plus" bundle last month. So Comcast competitor Time Warner did what any good competitor does: It copied the model and, this week, began offering a similar plan of its own: Dubbed "Starter TV with HBO," Time Warner's plan is an even more slimmed-down version of Comcast's idea. It features: "20+" cable channels, including the five biggies -- ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and PBS HBO and HBO GO and... well, actually, that's about it. At $30 a month, Time Warner handily undercuts Comcast's Internet Plus offer on price. And yet, it's hard not to wonder if customers aren't still overpaying. For one thing, Time Warner's Starter TV with HBO offer

If there's one thing that's hot in Hollywood right now, it's nostalgia. Comcast's (NASDAQ: CMCSA ) Universal Pictures is in the process of casting Jurassic World, a new entry to the 21-year-old "Jurassic Park" franchise, while Sony (NYSE: SNE ) has confirmed that it plans to move forward with the long-suffering Ghostbusters 3. Even "Jem and the Holograms" and "He-Man" have film adaptations in the works. So what's next on the nostalgia bandwagon?
- [By Investing Insight]
The entertainment and communication services industries are expected to have a healthier future due to an increased demand for filmed entertainment, higher TV advertising spending by businesses and a significant growth in small-to-medium sized businesses. These factors are anticipated to benefit Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) and its investors. The company's stock is already providing a handsome profit to its investors due to its higher dividend yield and upside potential.

It's been a solid year for Thompson Reuters (TRI); since the calendar flipped over to January, this $30 billion financial media firm has rallied more than 22%. But don't worry if you've missed out on the move -- TRI looks well-positioned for higher levels thanks to the pattern that's been setting up in shares.
Thompson Reuters is currently forming an ascending triangle pattern, a bullish setup that's formed by horizontal resistance above shares at the $35.50 level and uptrending support to the downside. Basically, as TRI bounces in between those two technically-important price levels, it's getting squeezed closer and closer to a confirmed breakout above that $35.50 price level. When the breakout happens, it's time to be a buyer.
TRI closed above the $35.50 level in yesterday's session, but it's a little early to call it a breakout just yet. If shares can hold above that breakout level all through today's session, then the buy signal is worth heeding.

We expect a seasonal pickup in implied and realized volatility as we approach year-end. We surveyed analysts across the department to identify the top events in each sector through year-end. We recommend long volatility positions in sectors and companies where the options market appears to be missing key events this fall including Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dish Network (DISH), Intel, Ford Motor, JC Penney, and Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD). We continue to see strong economics keeping volatility below average; however, we believe it is likely for realized volatility to rise from the extremely low levels observed this summer.

DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH ) dropped its $25.5 billion bid for Sprint and then abandoned the $6.3 billion offer to buy Clearwire. That leaves Japan-based wireless operator Softbank unopposed in its quest to own Sprint, which in turn lost its only challenger for Clearwire ownership. Sprint shareholders have already approved the Softbank merger. It's only a matter of time and formalities before the Sprint-Clearwire bundle lands in Japanese hands.

Charter was reported to have been talking with several banks about putting together a deal for the larger company and today reports may be the beginning of a serious round of bidding for Time Warner. Other bidders might include Dish Network Corp. Of course, Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S ) still owns the bulk of Clearwire. The proposed $20.1 billion deal with Japan's Softbank for a 70% stake is still on the table. DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH ) made an unsolicited $25.5 billion offer for Sprint just today, while DISH has been slowing building up its own spectrum holdings in preparation for entering the wireless sector. DISH outlined numerous ways that it believes its offer is superior to Softbank's.
