Most of the time, a budding company eases into its success, starting small, and then working its way into a successful status. Other times - though less often - a company flips a switch, and for all intents and purposes is turned "on", and immediately begin to reward investors. TNI Biotech Inc. (OTCMKTS:TNIB) just flipped its switch to the "on" position.
It may not be a household name (at least not yet), but TNIB may build a name for itself sooner than later, here in the United States as well as abroad. The biotech outfit's claim to fame is a diversified immunotherapy that is effective at treating everything from cancer to HIV to autoimmune diseases.
It may sound too good to be true, but it isn't. The drugs TNI Biotech Inc. is developing are designed to induce an immune response from an individual, which in the grand scheme of things is the best and first-choice way to fight any disease; a patient's own immune system, if properly prompted, is more effective than any antibiotic or cancer treatment that could be injected or dosed.

It's been a solid year for Thompson Reuters (TRI); since the calendar flipped over to January, this $30 billion financial media firm has rallied more than 22%. But don't worry if you've missed out on the move -- TRI looks well-positioned for higher levels thanks to the pattern that's been setting up in shares.
Thompson Reuters is currently forming an ascending triangle pattern, a bullish setup that's formed by horizontal resistance above shares at the $35.50 level and uptrending support to the downside. Basically, as TRI bounces in between those two technically-important price levels, it's getting squeezed closer and closer to a confirmed breakout above that $35.50 price level. When the breakout happens, it's time to be a buyer.
TRI closed above the $35.50 level in yesterday's session, but it's a little early to call it a breakout just yet. If shares can hold above that breakout level all through today's session, then the buy signal is worth heeding.
Top Media Companies To Watch For 2014: Discovery Communications Inc(DISCA)
Discovery Communications, Inc. operates as a non fiction media and entertainment company worldwide. The company provides original and purchased programming across various distribution platforms. Advisors' Opinion:- [By Jonas Elmerraji]
If the market's had a great year in 2013, Discovery Communications (DISCA) has managed to do one better. Shares of the $30 billion TV broadcaster have rallied almost 32% year-to-date, stomping the performance of the S&P 500 by a wide margin.
Still, investors hate this stock right now. With a short interest ratio of 10.7, it would take short sellers more than two weeks of buying at current volume levels to cover their positions.
Discovery owns a handful of international cable TV channels, including the namesake Discovery Channel, TLC, Science Channel and Animal Planet, and positions in properties such as Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network, launched in 2011. Discovery's niche positioning gives it some big benefits -- the firm's channels focus on topics such as science, technology and history, and they're able to sell more targeted advertising as a result. That's helped push the firm's net margins far above those of more conventional network broadcasters.
Discovery's channels are only part of the story. Content is king in the broadcast business, and so Discovery's 100,000 hour video library provides the firm with an extremely valuable asset -- especially now that streaming video firms such as Amazon.com (AMZN) and Netflix (NFLX) are falling all over themselves to license content.
DISCA has some tailwinds at its back right now, and its hefty short interest gives it the potential to pop this summer.

To begin with, partnerships are a key component to Hasbro's ongoing success. In 2009, Hasbro entered into a deal with media company Discovery Communications (NASDAQ: DISCA ) to create a channel known as the Hub, which would feature programming based on Hasbro's owned toy lines. Since 2010, when the channel made its debut, sales of My Little Pony have taken off. In the wake of its renewed success, the franchise released a new movie in June, which will go onto DVD later this summer.

Hasbro, Inc. (HAS) has been on the radar of many investment gurus like Paul Tudor Jones (Trades, Portfolio) and John Hussman (Trades, Portfolio) for some time now, given its position as the second largest toy manufacturer in the industry, only outranked by Mattel, Inc. (MAT). But the company first quarter earnings report showed that it could possibly outperform industry giant and rival Mattel in terms of growth, as Europe and Latin America registered 8% and 17% growth respectively, while Mattel saw declines in the same regions. Furthermore, quarterly earnings were driven mainly by the girlscategory, which sported a 20% increase in demand for My Little Pony, Equestria Girls, and Nerf Rebelle products. So, with profitability on the right track, what can investors expect from this industry player in the long term?Licensing agreements and emerging market growthAlthough Hasbro quarterly earnings were boosted by the girlstoy category, while the boyssegment showed merely 2% growth, fiscal 2014 should balance out the segments when the Transformers and Spiderman films launch in the second quarter. Owning a licensing agreement for Marvel has also helped boost results in the domestic market and Canada, as the recent launch of aptain America: The Winter Soldierwas a box office hit, thereby boosting sales of the Captain America action figure in the U.S. Moreover, the firm has been clever to focus its energy some years ago on the digital and entertainment business, giving it a competitive advantage over industry rivals. In fact, while Hasbro relationship with Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ATVI) has been significant in positioning the firm in the digital market, its joint venture with Discovery Communications Inc. (DISCA) The Hub has helped generate very strong brand loyalty, as well as new revenue streams.Furthermore, management has made a point of increasing its stewardship of shareholders via a dividend yield of nearly 3%, as well as its

Gannett (NYSE: GCI ) and the Tribune Co. (NASDAQOTH: TRBAA ) , two companies that publish daily newspapers, have announced combined layoffs of 1,000 positions (not all in the newsroom). News magazines are feeling the same pinch. According to a recent Gallup poll, only 9% of adults get their news from print sources, with news magazines scoring the lowest. The Pew news study as early as 2010 listed online news as the primary source for 39% of adults. One of Time's biggest competitors, Newsweek, ended its paper publication in early 2013 in favor of an online edition only.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Charles Sizemore]
By now, youe seen the news:AT&T (T) is buying pay TV rival DirecTV (DTV) for a whopping $48.5 billion in cash and stock in one of the biggest mergers in years. Including the assumption of debt, the deal comes to $67.1 billion.

But, the competition doesn't end there for Verizon. It also has to contend with growing competition from satellite TV providers such as DIRECTV (NASDAQ: DTV ) and DISH Networks, whose attraction is growing. DIRECTV, for example, added 400,000 subscribers in its latest quarter and has seen growing strength outside the United States. As someone who signed up for DIRECTV just this past month, let me tell you that the allure matches the promises thus far.

At the time, NDS Group was 80% owned by News Corp (NWSA) and they were providing the smart cards for all Direct TV (DTV) receivers. Further, they were one of only three smart card providers and one of their competitors, Canal Plus a Vivendi subsidiary, was struggling with maintaining the security of their smart card systems which they were providing to non-News Corp television companies throughout Europe. It seems that the access codes on their systems were turning up on the internet and bootleggers were stealing the signals. EcoStar, which would later be spun off by DISH, was making the same claims back in the 1990s. Both companies maintained that News Corp, acting through its subsidiary NDS Group, was the culprit. To make a long story short, Canal Plus filed a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against News Corp and later on EcoStar would follow suit.

Answer: I actually a satisfied AT&T wireless subscriber, with five devices across the family connected. I think the DirecTV (NYSE: DTV) deal will provide a boost to growth.
I think it and Verizon will continue to dominate the US market. I like the yield and the consistent divided growth. I rate AT&T a buy under 35.
I do like Verizon’s “big deal” to consolidate Verizon Wireless ownership versus AT&T’s move for DirecTV.
I don’t think, from a portfolio perspective, that they’re mutually exclusive.
